I’m an active researcher, currently affiliated with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney.  My PhD thesis on “Performance Related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Bassoon Players” passed examination with minor corrections in May 2009 (view my PhD Abstract.)  Currently I am disseminating my research through journal articles, conference papers, workshops and have designed courses based on my research.

I am also embarking on new research projects.  My research interests include:

  • Modifying bassoon pedagogy to decrease the likelihood of injury
  • Creating bassoon pedagogy tools
  • Using technology to increase the effectiveness of private lessons
