Butterfly in the sky I can go twice as high
Take a look
It’s in a book
A Reading Rainbow
I can go anywhere
Friends to know
And ways to grow
A Reading Rainbow
I can be anything
Take a look
It’s in a book
A Reading Rainbow!

The books are divided by topic area.  These are just the beginning of literature available to help musicians.  Note that many books not specifically for musicians can be applied to performing.  Some of these books are good, some aren’t, but you can learn something from all of them!

If you have no time to learn and can only read one book to help you perform, read:
** In Pursuit of Excellent by Terry Orlick, PhD **

Mental Preparation – help your preparation, confidence, stage presence, fighting spirit, etc.  The longer I spend as a musician, the more I realize this is the most important area.

Physical Health – more literature is being written about how to keep healthy when playing an instrument.  With the high rate of injury among bassoon players it is important that more bassoonists become aware of what is available.

Practice Techniques – learn ways to practice more efficiently.

Bassoon Books – learn the history of the bassoon, discover new fingerings or techniques, become familiar with the predominant literature in the bassoon world.

Career – get ideas and career counseling to take you where you want to go.
