I’m an active researcher.  My PhD thesis on “Performance Related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Bassoon Players” passed examination with minor corrections in May 2009 (view my PhD Abstract.)  Currently I am disseminating my research through journal articles, conference papers, workshops and have designed courses based on my research.

I am also embarking on new research projects.  My research interests include:

  • Modifying bassoon pedagogy to decrease the likelihood of injury
  • Creating bassoon pedagogy tools
  • Using technology to increase the effectiveness of private lessons
  • Reed making designs and technologies

  • Musician Entrepreneurship
  • The changing music business market

My current passion is adapting my PhD knowledge to the field of the aerial arts.
